More Than 22 Million Americans Get Their News via Mobile

comScore (via TechCrunch) reports that the number of US Consumers getting their news via mobile devices has doubled over the last year, rising from 10.8 million in January of ’08 t0 22.4 million in January of ’09. (Note to newspaper publishers: Go mobile.)

The same report reveals that social networking via mobile devices has grown increasingly popular. (On a personal note, I could have told you this. I have considered a formal intervention between my Facebook-addicted spouse and his Blackberry.) 9.3 million Americans are getting their social media fix mobile-ly. And while this may be less than the number of mobile news readers, the number is growing twice as quickly – up from 1.8 million last year.
